Starting on Friday, March 24, 2017 we’ll share weekly photos of the buds so you don’t miss a thing! We will post every Friday until the blossoms are close to blooming and then we’ll post every day until the blossoms have dropped!

Celebrate spring’s arrival with a visit to High Park and participate in the centuries old Japanese tradition of Sakura Hanami, roughly translated as “cherry blossom flower viewing.” The flowering of the Sakura trees is spectacular, but peak bloom (typically in late April to early May, depending on the weather) only lasts about a week, so keep updated on the progress of the blooms by visiting this page or following us on Facebook or Twitter!

In 2016 the Sakura trees produced only a handful of blossoms due to the warmer than usual winter coupled with an April snowstorm and frost.  We do not know what to expect for 2017 as weather patterns seem equally as unpredictable so far!
