Welcome to Staff Spotlight! Here we highlight the diverse stories of our valuable staff!
Before my time at the High Park Nature Centre I completed an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Arts and Sciences) at the University of Guelph. My specializations in Ecology and Psychology, and love for interdisciplinary learning, led me to complete a Master of Education at Queen’s University. While studying outdoor education was fascinating, it was time for me to put theory into practice.
I began my journey at the HPNC as a part-time staff member in May 2017 leading school programs, kids' clubs, birthday parties, and summer camp. As of November 2017 I am the Communications Coordinator! In addition to teaching programs I manage our newsletter, social media, posters, and blog. My mission as an interpreter is to get others excited about nature, so moving into the Communications role was a natural fit. The way I see it, I am just taking my enthusiasm for nature and sharing it with people online!
When I’m not at the Nature Centre, you can find me hiking, rock climbing, painting with watercolours, or burying my nose in a book. A very important fact about me: I prefer my puns very much intended, so if you've got good ones I'd love to hear them!
