An extension of the At Home in High Park program, the “Eagles” group (for 12-16 year olds) will delve deeper into the study of nature by combining outdoor exploration with challenging academic work that helps us better understand our natural observations. An emphasis will be put on integrating nature study with oral and written language skills, mathematics, science, art and geography. Homework will be assigned and participants will be responsible for it’s completion. Participants will develop their academic, nature knowledge and leadership skills in a challenging, supportive, team environment.
Participants will be:
Working independently and collectively to develop a 1-hour interpretive nature hike to be delivered as a culminating project on a Saturday afternoon.
Creating a cumulative species list for the season
Posting observations using iNaturalist
Stewardship projects within OURSpace

“I love that it’s a program offered within the city, where it’s easily accessible. Also, a program that is structured in a way that gets children out and involved, creating more awareness and appreciation for nature.” – Parent testimonial
“The mixture of outdoor / hands-on time with learning nature facts is great. I especially like the high percentage of time spent outdoors for each class.” – Parent testimonial
