National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

Wednesday, June 21, 5-7:30PM

Event Details

Join us and the Taiaiako’n Historical Preservation Society for our annual National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration in High Park. Join Elders: Donna Powless (Cayuga, Six Nations) and Frank Miller (Mohawk, language speaker, Six Nations) for a Sacred Fire, Ceremony, Song, Feast, and Stewardship activity as we remember the legacy of colonization and honor Indigenous Culture, Language, Survival and movements for Land defense towards our planetary future.

As we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, we must reflect on what it means to be a treaty person and how we can try to renew our treaty relationships with Indigenous People.

The event will include a planting activity with native plants grown in Toronto by community members.
