NOTE: Pre-registration is required for all our events, hikes and workshops. We do this to ensure we don’t exceed our capacity for indoor events or the maximum limits for group sizes on High Park’s ecologically sensitive trails. Please register on our website before coming to High Park.

We cannot guarantee availability of walk-in spots. If an event is at capacity, please put yourself on our waitlist. We will notify waitlisted participants if we open up new spots or sessions for our events. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Birds of Prey in High ‘Park’ Places Event Details

Owls, falcons, and hawks! Oh my! Mountsberg Raptor Centre is returning to High Park Nature Centre to share their knowledge on birds of prey found in Ontario, their adaptations, and the threats they face. Supporting the human experts in teaching us will be three birds of prey!  

Each session will begin with a 45-minute indoor presentation by Mountsberg, then the High Park Nature Centre team will lead you on an outdoor nature walk through the park to discover how the birds of prey breed, nest, hunt, and how they interact with each other in the park.

This event is best for adults and children over 5 years old who are okay to sit through a 45-minute presentation.

Note: Live birds of prey will be present at this event.  To make this event a good experience for the birds of prey and human participants, photography is welcome, but the flash must be off. Dogs are not allowed at this event.  Please reach out to the Nature Centre (416-392-1748) for accommodations for service animals.

  • Session 1: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
  • Session 2: 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Session 3: 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Mountsberg Raptor Centre

The Mountsberg Raptor Centre, located within Mountsberg Conservation Area, is an education facility that houses both Ontario native and non-native birds of prey. The centre strives to cultivate respect for birds of prey both in captivity and in the wild, to teach visitors about the biology of these birds, and to educate about human impacts on wildlife and positive actions guests can take in their lives to benefit animals and the environment.

You can choose to register for one of three different sessions:

  • Session 1: 1-2:30PM
  • Session 2: 2-3:30PM
  • Session 3: 3-4:30PM

This event will begin at the High Park Nature Centre’s Forest School building located at 375 Colborne Lodge Drive.

A number of changes were made to the travel network within High Park as part of the High Park Movement Strategy that might influence your decision to drive to High Park. In case you’re driving we strongly recommend you to park your car at the public parking lot near Grenadier Cafe.

We continue to recommend using the TTC or biking as the best way to get to High Park and the Nature Centre. The Nature Centre is situated just a 5-minute walk from the High Park Subway Station. In case you were biking, there are bike racks available in front of the Nature Centre.

Please note, High Park is closed to cars on the weekends. If your event is on a weekend, you will need to park outside the park and walk in, or take transit.

General Admission: $20

The High Park Nature Centre’s Forest School building is not yet an AODA-compliant facility. We try our best to accommodate accessibility needs on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to us about any accessibility-related questions you might have.

Hike routes through High Park might include some uneven terrain and mild slopes.

We welcome registered therapy or guide dogs to our events. However, we kindly ask that that family pets be left at home.
