NOTE: Pre-registration is required for all our events, hikes and workshops. We do this to ensure we don’t exceed our capacity for indoor events or the maximum limits for group sizes on High Park’s ecologically sensitive trails. Please register on our website before coming to High Park.
We cannot guarantee availability of walk-in spots. If an event is at capacity, please put yourself on our waitlist. We will notify waitlisted participants if we open up new spots or sessions for our events. Please contact us if you have any questions.
All in the Family with Mountsberg Raptor Centre in High Park
How closely related are hawks, falcons, and owls? While there are lots of similarities between birds of prey, some might not be as closely related as you expect.
This event begins with a 1-hour presentation by our friends from the Mountsberg Raptor Centre sharing their knowledge on birds of prey found in Ontario, their adaptations, and the threats they face in urban environments like Toronto. Supporting the human experts in teaching us will be three live birds of prey!
After the presentation, the Nature Centre team will lead a 45-minute hike through High Park uncovering the familial connections of the raptors in the park.

*Are there children under 8 years old in your family? We suggest registering for Session 2. The Nature Centre’s portion of Session 2 will be adapted for younger birders and will include games with shorter hike.
Note: Live birds of prey will be present at this event. To make this event a good experience for the birds of prey and human participants, photography is welcome, but the flash must be off. Dogs and other pets are not allowed at this event. Please reach out to the Nature Centre for accommodations for service animals.
Mountsberg Raptor Centre
The Mountsberg Raptor Centre, located within Mountsberg Conservation Area, is an education facility that houses both Ontario native and non-native birds of prey. The centre strives to cultivate respect for birds of prey both in captivity and in the wild, to teach visitors about the biology of these birds, and to educate about human impacts on wildlife and positive actions guests can take in their lives to benefit animals and the environment.

This event will take place at the High Park Forest School building located at 375 Colborne Lodge Drive.
A number of changes were made to the travel network within High Park as part of the High Park Movement Strategy that might influence your decision to drive to High Park. In case you’re driving we strongly recommend you to park your car at the public parking lot near Grenadier Cafe.
We continue to recommend using the TTC or biking as the best way to get to High Park and the Nature Centre. The Nature Centre is situated just a 5-minute walk from the High Park Subway Station.
Please note, High Park is closed to cars on the weekends. If your event is on a weekend, you will need to park outside the park and walk in, or take transit.

Hike routes through High Park might include some uneven terrain and mild slopes.
The High Park Forest School building is not yet an AODA-compliant facility.

Dogs and other pets are strictly not permitted in for this event. Please reach out to the Nature Centre for accommodations for certified service animals, such as registered therapy or guide dogs.
