Grow the Grasslands in Toronto's High Park

Get your hands in the soil and be part of something taking root across the country. Join us for a community planting event to grow the Black Oak Savannah in High Park: one of Toronto’s most endangered ecosystems and part of a much larger grassland story stretching across Canada.

As we plant native species together, you’ll learn how these landscapes support biodiversity, store carbon, and connect to conservation efforts nationwide through the Canadian Grasslands Coalition. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just sprouting, this is your chance to take meaningful action, meet your community, and leave a lasting impact.

Spots are limited and the grasslands are waiting for you.

About the Canadian Grassland Coalition

The Canadian Grassland Coalition is a collaborative network of individuals and organizations — not-for-profits, educators, scientists, Indigenous voices, producers, governments — across Canada that are passionate about grasslands. We all work in our own region(s), with stakeholders, towards the conservation of natural grasslands. Together we are a collective force advocating for the magnificence of grasslands, their value to Canadians, the threats they face, and the solutions to ensure that these precious landscapes remain vibrant, resilient, and full of life for generations to come.

  • Day: Wednesday, June 3
  • Time: 6:30-8:30PM

This event will start at the High Park Forest School building located at 375 Colborne Lodge Drive.

A number of changes were made to the travel network within High Park as part of the High Park Movement Strategy that might influence your decision to drive to High Park. In case you’re driving we strongly recommend you to park your car at the public parking lot near Grenadier Cafe.

We continue to recommend using the TTC or biking as the best way to get to High Park and the Nature Centre. The Nature Centre is situated just a 5-minute walk from the High Park Subway Station.

Please note, High Park is closed to cars on the weekends. If your event is on a weekend, you will need to park outside the park and walk in, or take transit.
