Step Into the Watershed: Biinaagami in High Park
Step into the world of water with the Biinaagami giant floor map in High Park! Follow rivers, streams, and lakes across the Great Lakes watershed, discover the animals and plants that call it home, and hear Indigenous teachings that honour Water. Explore the giant map with hands-on activities, then step beyond it for a guided walk to the retention ponds to see water in our own community. By the end of the journey, we’ll have a deeper understanding of the watershed and the neighbours who share it.

Biinaagami (pronounced: BEE-nah-ga-meh)
“Biinaagami” means clean water in Anishinaabemowin. The Biinaagami floor map is a giant, interactive map created in collabration by Indigenous Leaders, Educators, Scientists, Water Walkers, Knowledge Keepers, Canadian Geographic and Swim Drink Fish. It shows the Great Lakes watershed—where rivers, streams, and lakes connect . The map invites participants to walk, play, and learn how water links us all and why protecting it matters. We all depend on water.

When biking, there are bike racks available in front of the Nature Centre. Please remember to bring a bike lock.
A number of changes were made to the travel network within High Park as part of the High Park Movement Strategy that might influence your decision to drive to High Park. In case you’re driving we strongly recommend you to park your car at the public parking lot near Grenadier Cafe.
