Welcome to Staff Spotlight! Here we highlight the diverse stories of our valuable staff!
I began working at the Nature Centre in April of 2014 as a volunteer, and was then hired as a part-time Nature Interpreter for camps, clubs, and birthday parties. In 2015 I began in my current full-time role as Volunteer Coordinator and Naturalist Teacher.
I get to connect people to the environment in a meaningful way! As the Volunteer Coordinator, I love watching volunteers grow into a leadership role and being there to support them. As a Naturalist Teacher, my most memorable moment was during summer camp in 2016: a mother squirrel was moving her babies from one tree to another and some campers completely stopped what they were doing to observe the squirrel for 30 minutes!
When I’m not at the Nature Centre you can usually find me knitting a pair of socks for a friend! I also have a balcony garden full of herbs and volunteer at LEAF’s urban forest demonstration garden by High Park station.
In April 2018 Chantale moved onto a new position at Eva's. While we are sad to see her go and will miss her as a part of the HPNC team, we wish Chantale all the best in her new endeavors!
