Word of the Week: Gelid

Welcome to Word of the Week! Stay tuned for a new word each week to amp up your nature vocabulary!

The word of the week is gelid [GEH-LUHD] (adjective): extremely cold or icy.

This word is used to describe anything with an extremely cold temperature. Examples: the gelid waters of Grenadier Pond, or the gelid winter wind.

It can also be used in its noun form, gelidity or gelidness, or its adverb form, gelidly. Expand your winter nature lexicon with this frosty new word!
