Welcome to Word of the Week! Stay tuned for a new word each week to amp up your nature vocabulary!

The word of the week is lepidopterology [lep-i-dop-tuh-rol-uh-jee] (noun): the branch of entomology dealing with the study of moths and butterflies.

High Park’s lepidoptera population includes at least 70 species of butterflies and over 1,000 species of moths, making it a great location for budding lepidopterologists. Butterflies and moths are not just beautiful insects but are also important pollinators!

With National Moth Week coming up next week, get your lepidopteran thinking hats and magnifying glasses on and join us on our annual Moth Walk on Tuesday, July 26, from 8:15-10PM. Click here to learn more and register today.
